The SC Forestry Commission issued a statewide burning ban as of 7 am Wednesday, Sept. 12. This will go into effect for the City of Tega Cay immediately until further notice. All outdoor burning is prohibited and includes brush, fire pits and chimineas.
According to SCFC Fire Chief Darryl Jones, "the ban is in effect not just because of elevated fire danger, but also because many firefighting and emergency personnel and resources are committed to hurricane-related response."
