[ARCHIVED] Important Update On Concerts

Governor McMaster recently issued Executive Order 2020-50. Due to the new mandates included in that Order, we will not be able to hold our concerts as we normally do at Runde Park until the Order is repealed.

Instead of canceling, we’re going to do something a little different. This next part is extremely important so READ ALL THE WAY TO THE END.

U-Phonik is still going to play on August 15th...at Windjammer Park. We are going to close the park to the general public beginning at 2:00 p.m. That means it will be closed to residents too. The show will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. So how can I watch it if the park is closed to the public? Great question! You can watch it from the water (if you have a boat or are great friends with someone who has a boat- those are the best friends to have) or you can tune in and have a watch party at your house because we’ll be streaming it live on Facebook.

The band will playing in the general direction of the island off the point. TCPD will be setting up an ID check point at 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Snapper Point and Windjammer. Only people having ID showing they live beyond the check point will be allowed to continue on. Everyone else will be turned away. And before you ask, no, you can’t cart/walk/bike to the park. That means you can’t park on Windjammer or one of the side streets prior to the check point and walk down. You will not be allowed into the park. In case you missed it, THE PARK WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC BEGINNING AT 2:00 PM. If you don’t have a boat, or a close friend with a boat, you’ve got until August 15th to get one/find one, or fire up the grill and invite your social bubble over to socially distance in the back yard to watch it live on Facebook.

So what about the other three concerts? Another great question! Darrell Harwood will still be doing his show on Saturday, September 5th (Labor Day weekend). The rules above for the U-Phonik show will apply for his show. It will be at Windjammer Park from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The park will close to the general public at 2:00 p.m. No one allowed past Snapper Point that doesn’t live there. We are working hard to reschedule one or both of the other shows for next spring when we can hopefully do it back at Runde Park.

If you are watching from the water, remember to follow all SCDNR safety guidlines. You know, the ones about life jackets and no drinking and boating. We also encourage you to anchor instead of rafting to other boats. USE YOUR NOODLE AND MAKE GOOD DECISIONS. As sound generally travels further across the lake, you probably don’t need to be on the "front row".

When we close the park on August 15 and on September 5 at 2:00 p.m., the park will remain closed until the following morning.
