This year’s fireworks show will be held Saturday, July 4 beginning at 9:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Traffic controls prior to and during the show this year will be different from previous years, so please read carefully.
The parking lot at the Tega Cay Golf & Conference Center will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Once that parking lot is full, only people who live on or off of Molokai Drive will be allowed through the ID check point. Anyone not living on or off of Molokai Drive will be directed to Runde Park or back to the Tega Cay Elementary School parking lots.
Once the parking lot at Runde Park is full, an ID check point will be established at Tega Cay Elementary School (TCES). This is being done in an effort to control traffic on Tega Cay Drive. Officers will direct everyone at that time that does not live on the peninsula to park at TCES until those parking lots are full. Only people who have ID showing they live on the peninsula will be allowed to continue to their home. Once TCES parking lots are full, anyone not living on the peninsula will be turned around until the firework show is completed and outbound traffic is underway.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED, FOR ANY REASON, TO PARK ON TEGA CAY DRIVE. This includes the shoulders of the road and the median.
The ID check points are necessary to prohibit traffic safety issues with road blockages, and to ensure emergency personnel are able to respond to any calls for service. If you live on the peninsula or in the Molokai Drive area and are expecting guests make sure they have arrived by 6:00 p.m. to avoid any issues. All walkers, golf-carters and bikes will be allowed to travel to the show. Parking lots will NOT be limited to “residents only” or “peninsula residents only.” They will strictly be on a first come, first served basis. Information related to the City’s other July 4th activities will be released later this week.
