Memorial Day is Monday, May 29th. With the long holiday weekend coming up, we wanted to share several important reminders. City Hall will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday. Garbage collection will be delayed by 1 day for all areas (recycle schedule remains unaffected). The Tega Cay Veterans Association is hosting two events this weekend to remember those who have fallen. The first event is the Tega Cay Veteran’s Memorial 5k being held on Sunday, May 28th beginning at 5pm (more info below). Then on Monday, there will be a Memorial Ceremony held in the Living Memorial Gardens beginning at 10am. Parking is available at City Hall, Trailhead Park and Lakeshore Christian Fellowship. We hope you will join us in honoring those currently serving in our military and remembering those we have lost.
The Tega Cay Veterans Association will host their 6th Memorial Day Weekend 5k run on Sunday, May 28th. Their goal is to raise funds to continue support of the Fisher House Foundation, Inc. and provide other forms of assistance to local Veterans in need. The TCVA supports the Fisher House Foundation due to its outstanding assistance to Veterans and their families while receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. Fisher House Foundation has earned an A+ rating from Charity Watch and 4 of 4 stars from Charity Navigator! Come join us for some fun, meet local Veterans who have served this great Nation, win prizes and stay to enjoy a great concert after the race!
Race begins at 5:00 pm Sunday evening, but race day registration opens at 4:00 pm. Shirt size guaranteed if you register by May 21st. Medals will awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. Men’s and Women’s categories: 1-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
