The Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office of York County will open four polling places for the Tega Cay Special Election occurring Tuesday, Feb. 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Elections are not weather-dependent and are legally required to take place once scheduled and announced.

Early Voting is taking place through tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Board of Voter Registration and Elections office in York. 

On Election Day, eligible Tega Cay residents must cast their ballots at the polling place for their assigned precinct with a current and valid South Carolina or Federal Photo ID. No one may enter the polling place if they have any type of campaign material or weapon.

Voters are encouraged to visit scVOTES.gov to view their sample ballots and verify their registrations prior to visiting a polling place. Voters who have not updated their addresses may possibly receive a limited ballot at the polling place where they are registered, not where they have moved.

Items of note:

  • Voters must be registered no later than Friday, Jan. 2 in person, Sunday, Jan. 4 online, or Monday, Jan. 5 via USPS postmark to be eligible to vote in the Special Election
  • Campaign material is prohibited within 500 feet of any entrance to the polling place
  • Voters’ ballots are to remain secret and are not allowed to be shown or photographed

Election results will be posted at YorkCountyGov.com/vote, predicted to be after 9 p.m. At each polling place, results for that location are posted once the poll closes and are available for viewing.
