Our area is currently under a Winter Storm Watch, and our staff is preparing for the storm. Be sure to check your local weather and stay up to date on new weather patterns and predictions.
Our Winter Weather Procedures can be found on our website here. The list of roads to be treated includes Tega Cay Drive, Hubert Graham Way, Windjammer Drive, Molokai Drive, Shoreline Parkway, Stonecrest Blvd., Gardendale Road, Windward Drive, Point Clear Drive, Chestnut Hill, Gladiola Way, Coralbell Way, and Orchid Way. Our Public Works Department is preparing supplies to pre-treat the roads before freezing rain.
This storm has the potential to cause downed trees over the weekend. Please remember, if you see a tree down in the road, please call TCPD’s non-emergency line at (803) 548-0340. If a tree has fallen on your home, please call 911 immediately.
To prep your home for the Winter Weather, our Utilities Department would like to remind residents:
Keep Water Flowing: During extreme cold, let a trickle of water flow from your faucets, especially in areas prone to freezing.
Protect Your Pipes: Insulate exposed pipes and outdoor faucets. Disconnect garden hoses and cover hose bibs.
Seal Drafts: Close vents and repair gaps near pipes to prevent cold air from reaching them.
Locate Your Main Shut-Off Valve: Knowing where to turn off water in an emergency can minimize damage from burst pipes.
Open Cabinet Doors: Allow warm air to circulate around plumbing under sinks.
We strongly encourage residents to make preparations now so you can avoid being on the roadways from Saturday morning through Sunday evening, depending on roadway conditions and forecast updates. Due to forecasted temperatures on Monday morning, roadways may remain dangerous to travel, even after precipitation ends. If you have experienced an emergency, please call 911 immediately.
