White Buffalo will begin sterilizing 200 deer in Tega Cay at dusk on Monday, October 21, 2024, within the city limits. The sterilization will run until White Buffalo has reached 200 female deer sterilized or til the first week of November and will take place on city property. City Council approved this agreement at the August 2024 City Council Meeting as part of the Wildlife Management Plan. You can view the agenda from this meeting on the City's website or watch Council's discussion during the meeting on the City's YouTube Channel.
Residents can expect to see White Buffalo and their staff throughout the City during the overnight hours transporting deer to and from the sterilization sites during this process. Once deer have been sterilized and returned to the site where they were collected, they will be tagged with a white plastic ear tag and wear reflective ribbons around their necks. Deer may be groggy the day after treatment.
